Our History

The North Church was founded by Dr. Lawrence and Coral Kennedy in April of 1989. The church began as weekly Bible studies held in North Dallas hotels. Our first regular service on April 29, 1989 was in a building along I-35E with over 1,000 in attendance. In the following eighteen months, the congregation grew, quickly making the building obsolete in the first year.

By 1991, North Church had moved to our current building, an 87,000-square-foot warehouse on Belt Line in Carrollton. The new facility was remodeled within three-months and North Church held their first service at our new location.

Due to North Church’s explosive growth, on our sixth anniversary we began holding two Sunday morning services. Soon after in 1999, it was time to add to our facilities. The Complex was built, adding much needed classrooms, gym, workout facility, and coffee bar.

In our endeavor to connect people to a real God, a vision was birthed in Dr. Kennedy. The church began preparation for harvest and growth by remodeling and updating our current facility in 2005. Our pastoral team believes that through this remodeling, the North Church will not only be a beautiful campus, but a more productive and efficient facility—a place that attracts new people with the vision through our up-to-date technology and enhanced design.

We have completed our new children’s ministry area. This movie-set themed environment, complete with its own arcade, is guaranteed to capture your child’s imagination and heart (designed by none other than Wacky World Studios, best known for designing award-winning sets for Universal Studios and the Rain Forest Café).

Our heart is for you to join us on our new journey. North Church is a house of restoration and life where people experience the reality of God’s love and power. Serving God's people is our commitment to the future.
